As your desire is, so is your intention
As your intention is, so is your will
As your will is, so is your deed
As your deed is, so is your destiny”
What is Meditation?
A very simple explanation or description of Meditation is “the practice of deep concentration of the Mind”.
It is a technique which can be practiced by anyone/everyone no matter what age, gender, size or shape, and from all walks of life.
From accountants to zoo keepers and all those in between; Mums, Dads, Grandparents and children, Meditation can form part of a healthy lifestyle for all – indeed, Meditation is not exclusive, but inclusive.
What Meditation isn’t…
It does not have to be a religious experience or ritual, however, we will touch on what may be interpreted as spiritual subjects, so may not be suitable for everyone.
You do not have to wear strings of beads or orange frocks.
What We Do...
Firstly, a little about me & my practice.
I discovered Meditation whilst studying - I found it useful for coping with exams etc whilst at University. (1994 seems a very long time ago!) Helping others has always been a passion of mine, and eventually, formed a small informal group for ad-hoc Meditation sessions.
This continued for the 3 years, and, naturally progressed to my "grown up" life, when I started work and bought my first house.
I looked for and joined a class - we did lots of healing, crystal work, but in the main, Meditations. This lasted a year and a day, on a weekly basis.
I read a lot, all that I could find (in the days before the Internet, the local library only held so many books). I went to other classes, to see how different they were, how the styles fit with me.
Working in Complementary Therapy, Meditation can add an extra dimension nothing else can - especially when working with pain (physical, emotional, etc). and so I did a Teaching course so that Meditations could be blended into my treatments.
Personally, I Meditate on a daily basis - even if it is for 5 minutes, I put aside time for this.
At Tranquillity Therapies, the form of Guided Meditation is practiced. This takes the form of being led by a script or story, by using visualisation to reach a point of relaxation.
Tranquillity Therapies uses Relaxation and Meditation techniques which incorporate Conscious Breathing, Meditation, Progressive Muscle Relaxation and Visualisation to take you on a journey to relaxation, revitalisation and deep calm.
It is chair based (no lying on the floor) and the focus is on helping you achieve relaxation through visualisation techniques. However, mats can be used if preferred.
It’s great for beginners, or those who are experienced in meditation.
1-2-1 Meditation is available - contact me for details.
In the Media...
There is a current trend of negativity around mindfulness and meditation at the moment, in journals, press and media.
Reports are being published that view them as being “not the real deal. Not being as wonderful as practitioners claim they are”.
This may well be because those whom are practising have had an “onion effect response”.
This is where mindfulness/meditation has made space in the persons head, and, if there were deep issues, may well have brought them to the fore. Because of the space, the memories or thoughts that were buried, rise to the top, and become need attention/action.
Once this has been ‘dealt with’, another issue may arise, and so it goes on…
Meditation is not the universal sticking plaster – you have to work at it, and when you do, you may achieve minor personal miracles.
